Any babies I leave in the main tank always seem to magically disappear within a months time, even tho I have about 6 amazon sword plants in the tank for the little buggers to hide in. So now, if I want them to live, I stick the fries in their own nursery tank.

Baby mollies are big enough to eat flakes. You just gotta crush it up really good so it's basically flake powder. Some of the literature I've read on the subject also recommend baby brine shrimp as an excellent food source for fries as it's high in protein and thus will make your babies grow faster.

I have platies, they are livebearers also, and I was lucky if I could get just a few to survive. I started putting the female in a tank to her own, after I saw fry, I removed her ASAP. After the fry were large enough to fend for themselves I put them in the regular tanks.

I feed them crushed flake food and that is it! They do really well with it too.
