Hi guys

I have today put in a male and a female swordtail into a tank that already has an agressive pair dalmatian sail fin molly in it. Is this inviting trouble ?
Do mollies and swordtails crossbreed ??

They don't interbreed. You should be fine. As for the aggression, well, who knows. how big is the tqank, what else is in there, how much cover, etc?

thanks for the reply harlock
I suspected the interbreeding thing becoz I noticed that both the males appear same to me physiologically - (similar looking fin-like reproductive organs - I know it's got some name which I dont know  )

Swordtails and platties can interbreed. Mollies and swordtails do not. Too far apart in the genetic line. In my experience keeping these fish, rarely i would have an overly aggresive male swordtail. Male mollies were only aggresive with other male mollies but never to a serious degree. They are both very placid fish. You should have at least 2-3 females for every male molly and sword tail.
