That is a link to info on the clown pleco. They are mostly wood eaters and so you need to have some driftwood in your tank. And veggies such as cucumber and zucchini should be fed as well. They are not very good at eating alage and won't make much of a dent if you have a big problem.

Thanks for link. In fact helped me to recognize that i have in fact a common pleco not a clown. It has a lot of spots like leopard and from a search of photos it seems to be it. I tried to take a picture but right now it is hiding. Seems that common pleco likes algae but i am not troubled because i do not have an algae problem. Will just have to buy appropriate food for it.

Well, your going to need to take that pleco back, he'll get bigger than your tank is long eventually. They are also only good algea eaters for about the first 3-6 months, after that their diet turns almost exclusively carnivorous. They also begin to get very aggressive and territorial. Take him back and get a clown, or if you want something that will eat the algea get a bristlenose pleco.

I would exchange the pleco for a couple of ottos. Similar look but they stay around 1 inch or so in lenght. A common pleco will indeed grow to be 18 inches long and will require more meat, will get aggressive and will also want driftwood. Also they can live to be 25 years old or so. And while it may never reach its full size in a smaller tank it will still get far too big and produce far more waste than a small tank can deal with.

I waited for it to get out of rock and am attaching photo. I want to be sure since i saw a lot of photos on internet but am still confused
