molly fry.. when to release?

hey gang.. i got a couple of molly fry in a little plastic breeding unit in my main 40 gal tank. they are about a 1/2 inch and growing fast. I think they are about 1.5 months old now. when do you think i can release these guys. any general rule on releasing babies?
here are the other guys in the tank.
2 bosemanis
5 phantom tetras
2 mollies (the parents)
2 swordtails
1 pleco

I think they can be released when they can't fit in the other tankmate's mouths, or are fast enough to outrun them. at 1/2 inch I'd say they'd be ok

mine took a while,abot 4 months and they had all thier colour and not edible by other tank maytes
