Molly on the floor

bamosherjr

I just like fish and web design!!!
Does anyone know why my Dalmation Molly just sits on the bottom of tank, not moving any fins or breathing, just hanging out? Please help!

Parameters are fine. All other four milllies are fine. A couple of them look preggers, could that possible be it?

I believe it is a female, its tummy is kinda big. What is gravid?

Its simple, gravid is what its called when a fish is heavy with fry. People will also talk about a gravid spot which is a darkening of the abdomen because the fish is gravid. In a fish with a dark colored abdomen, the best way to figure it out is to go by the shape of the fish. When it is very far along and getting ready to deliver, if you look at it from above it will be definitely swollen looking. From the side or even from behind, its abdomen will take on a sort of squarish look to it. What jm1212 wanted to know is if the fish is getting so big it could deliver any day now. Livebearers like mollies can act kind of strange and withdrawn the last day or 2 before they deliver.

Her belly actually is not as big as some of the other fish. I went out and bought stuff to make a homemade cave. I hope that she will be able to have the babies in there.

what is "fine"? what are the exact numbers?

ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, etc. how often do you change the water? how long has the tank been set up? is it cycled? how long have the fish been in there? any recent additions?

I dont know what the exact numbers are. I took the water in last week to have it tested, and they said it was good levels. The tank is cycled, AquaClear for a 50 gallon, even though its only a 30. CO2 system in there, but has been in there since the fish have. Had the fish for maybe 2 weeks now, behavior just started about a week ago. Nothing new has been added besides the cave i built out of rocks, that I put in last night. That was just for her, thinking she might need to deliver.
