everywhere i go i read that it cannot be done, it it makes sence since mollies are Poecilia, and platies are Xiphophorus, i figured it would be easier to hybrid a platy and a swordtail
but i decided to try it anyway
a few months ago my friends platies spawned, and i got a few babies from him, raised them up and had them sitting in a 20gal alone, after that i decided to get a male black molly and see what would happen...after about 2 months i caught the black molly breeding with one of the female platys, he was removed and she was placed alone, she gradually started to get bigger...and bigger until 8 babies where born...there where no male platies in the tank, only females, i'm hoping these fry survive, so far they are growing nicely and eating like crazy..there are 5 orange/brown colored babies, and 3 transparent blacks
