Despite not being a truely aquatic species, Mondo grass can and will grow and thrive underwater for long periods of time. Ive had the same bunch of Mondo grass in several tanks for over 2 years now. In fact, its the only plant that has survived every tank and setup ive had, and its currently doing better than ever in my 55. It has grown so much that i just took out 90% of it to give to my dad. I only have maybe 15 stalks right now but im not worried because the way its been growing itll be back to its previous size in a month or so. It seems to do best with medium to high light, ferts(i use flourish and excel), and a lower ph level. I cant wait to see what it does with c02!
I think its gotten a bad name because its most commonly sold at Petco and Petsmart...and people absolutely HATE those places on here for some reason. I dont usually buy fish from there, but ive bought several plants from them(they are mislabeled alot) and its where i get basically all my food and ferts.
