WOW!

Never even entered the brackish section before.... let alone posting in it...Cool. ;)

I have a question for all you brackish gals and fellows.

We have a tank of Monodactylus argenteus at work. The Salinity is at 1.008 or 11ppt. The temp is around 80 degrees.

Some of the Monos have died. Serious water quailty issues that we have now fixed but are still paying for.
What is the weird part is that some of them when they have died have turn bright pink? I mean like the color FUSHIA?

Has anyone ever heard of or seen this before?
What is the cause?

Monos are very sensitive to water quality and unless you fishless cycled that tank I'm not suprised that you've lost some monos.

The reason they turned pink is because they lose their pigment when they die.

It sucks to lose monos I've lost 1 of my 6 a while back and was so choked. They truly are beautiful fish.

I used to have one in a 20g fw tank because i thought they were cool looking fish. I had it for about a year. After it got about 2 inches tall it died. Dont remember it turning pink. This was years back so i didnt really know what kinda water conditions it needed.

Yours would have died due to being in FW and not having proper water conditions.
However, I too don't remember mine turning pink. Then again I euthanized mine as he could no longer swim and it's gills were puffed out.
