Monthly Water Chanes???

I never fill my buckets to the top. aia always fill them about 3/4 of the way. The thing with laminate flooring is that when you spill LARGE amounts of water on it, it will puff up and have to be COMPLETLY replaced. I have never spilled more than a couple of drops on it. I usually line the hallways and livingroom with towels before I start. Towels wouldn't work too well with 5 gallons on the floor, would it??!! LOL!!!

Since you can only carry one gallon at a time does this mean you've spilled the entire bucket five times?
Sell the aquarium and get your job back!

so you never answered the question, do you have an inside crapper? or do you folks go outdoors?

What kind of job do you have that you cannot even carry your lunch box to?

I wondered the same thing through the last few pages of this thread. I also am concerned about the weght of the shopping cart at Walmart. Isn't that over the 8lb limit?

I thought this sort of thread was limited to the xbox360 forums I'm on...

... and I'm sure gonna flush 50% every week from now on...

Because plants don't use up heavy metals, DOCs or TDSs. There are also other pollutants that we can't test for.

just curious, is there any way to remove those without water change?

the other points are not really valid imo:

- ammonia are absorbed by plants as well(plants love them)
- you dont need to graval vac in a fully planted tank when feeding the correct ammount
- nutrients can be dosed instead of through water change
- on the flip side nutrients can be measured as to not overdose

so really the reason for water change in a planted is to remove heavy metal and other "bad stuff we cant see" How often do those build up? is a weekly water change really neccessary

Look at all the posts by FP321.

The saga is either very sad, or very trollish, and a little funny.

If they are serious, they have no patience unless the attention is totally on their self and sometimes just agrees with what is said even if it is 180 out from what they said they did.

When approached about it...you get vulgar PMs'. I can post one if you like.

FP321...if you are really interested in fish and need/want help..please act and respond so. You will get the help you need, though it may not be on your timetable and sometimes the thread will shift.

If you can't do this, please visit a different forum, which would cause me to summarize the above as...you are a TROLL. (and probably a close relative to Pran)

rbishop, I just scanned through fp321's postings--either he is a troll, or has multiple personalities!!!! There's definitely something fishy going on here!!

If you are running a traditional planted tank with a very light fish load, then there is no reason you could not do your WC every two weeks. If you've got half the ammount of fish as a fully stocked tank, then every other week is fine. Weekly WCs are preached because in a "fully stocked" aquarium of any size that's what most of us feel is neccessary to maintain the level of water quality we want to maintain. There is no law that says you have to maintain that level of water quality, and I'm sure most fish will tolerate water quality lower than that provided by weekly WCs. We've just found through experience that incidence of sickness go WAY down, and growth, and spawning activities go WAY up when you maintain good water quality through weekly WCs.
