Well, I used the bleach to leech the color a bit faster and to kill anything bacteriawise that might cause the wood to rot. It helped remove alot of the excess color. At first the color was like strong tea, but after several rinses it lightened. I used a capful of Hagen aquaclear to soak it in at the end and dechlorinate it. Finally, the result was a weak tea color look to the water which I can accept. But the dark color would have made it hard to see the fish (it started out that dark!) and my platys are vivid red! I love the wood
it sinks really nice and is knarly and natural looking. The water is still like weak tea...but its got a tan now lol. I attatched a pic to show you what happened.
I took out the skeleton decoration, lol. My daughter gave it to me as a b-day present. I don't like it in there. But, I'm saving it for another "theme" tank lol.
Ugh! Where will I put another aquarium lol.
