More Babies

Hi,

Wow, the pictures... Brings back very good memories.

I did spend more time with the fish than you....

Between rotifers, algae cultures, and keeping the juveniles and larvae tanks.... it took me at least a few hours per day on the weeks and more on the weekends...

But it was too much fun... I would love to repeat it again!!!

Ok, now you gave me some new motivation... Maybe I will try it again with my new pair of perculas...

How long did it take you to pair your fish etc? What you fed them to condtion them?

My ocellaris used to give me only a few hundred eggs.

You are well out of the woods...

The only thing I found challenging was to sell them before they became too aggressive between themselves and started killing the weaker fish.

Oh, I was just wondering because I have never purposefuly paired clownfish before. Mine just started to spawn on their own.

I sold a few dozen fish, perhaps about 60 to 80. After my female died, I tried to pair him with another clown but then I had to move so I had to end the operation.....

what is the sign of 2 clowns are paired ?

i have 2 false perc which like to stick-together and sleep together at night, that consider paired? my tank is only 3 mths old so i don't know if they have developed their gender... but they are still about the same size at this time ;)

Generally the female will be a third or as much as twice the size of the male. It depends on the species. With my False Percs the females are about 1 to 1.5 inches bigger than the male.

It sounds like yours have paired up, but perhaps are not a breeding pair. Meaning they have bonded, and there is a good chance in the future they will breed, but it could be many many months before that happens.

My pairs were both mature and had breeded before I bought them, and it took 1 pair 8 months to start breeding again. The other pair has not started back up yet and it's going on a year since I bought them.

Not much changed, we haven't been hatching out anymore as we are currently overstocked with around 1000 or so babies and only 5 55gal tanks. The largest ones are going on about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and we will be needing to sell them soon.

If anyone is interested in buying some or if you have a LFS that would like to pick some up PM me for more information.

I would really like to find some LFS's that would be interested in ordering a few dozen at a time.

Thanks for the help.

Hey I sent you a pm but, I neer heard basck from you. I know you're busy just a little nudge.
