I had to seperate my male guppys from the females...It was in the end, the only solution. I feel cruel feeding unsuspecting fry to larger fish, and my LFS does not give me much for them. But every now and then I will breed a really beautiful bunch of fry and sell them or trade them for fish food. it sucks because tehya re soo happy in my 10 and 20 gallon tanks, but I cannot possibly keep them all in there and I know wherever I sell them or give them two that probably 1/2 of them or more will die when they are happy here at home.
You might try figure 8 puffers or something along those lines. They require protein in their diet and will greedily gobble them up. I am having the same problem, my guppies got started and now they won't stop. Stuck with 75 fry right now with more on the way. my pygmy puffers have already eaten a few. But of course, they don't eat for a few days after eating the fry...lol
:coffee: looks like angels are the answer i dont mind having a food chain in my tank but some i think will have to go to lfs. i have seen some nice looking angels in my lfs they were black, white and yellow . i really want some khuli loach too
I just don't know how to get the overpopulation under control. The next step I think is going to be just getting rid of my guppies and getting something that doesn't breed easily. My apologies, my LFS sells Figure 8 puffers in freshwater, so I figured they were freshwater. i don't have any, so no worries.
