okay... Yesterday I added 1 tsp. salt per gallon. Today I will go slowly trying to get it up to the 2 tsp per gallon going slowly and watching the fish. I also turned the heat up to 86 degrees and the fish are doing great. Now... how long before you think the ich will fall off my pictus catfish. He looks miserable and I hope it will be soon. Since i am doing the high temp and salt, will the ich be killed when they fall off the catfish, or after they go into the subtrate and multiply when they go looking for more fish?
Thanks so much

someone has a really good post on here about the ich cycle, do a search and see if you can't find it! I will post it if I come across it :)

Thanks, I have read all the articles on this website related to ich. I was just kind of curious as to what happened when others also used the salt and raised the temperature in there tank with ich to see how long theres might have taken. The article said anywhere from days to weeks and I was trying to get a better answer then that. I guess I just dont have the paitents for this. Every time I walk past the tank, I check on him to see if any of the spots have gone yet :) Hopefully it wont take weeks because he doesnt seem too happy.
Thanks again,
