Is that grassy looking thing beneath the end of the heater "Mondo Grass"? (frequently sold by PetSmart)

If so, it isn't aquatic and won't last more than ~2 months...

not a clue this came in a weighted bunch no identifiction was with it ah well if it dies i'll replace it with something else lol

Mine has been going on 5 months with new growth. It shouldn't be considered a permanent part of the aquascape unless you can plan on taking it out every couple of months or so for a day or 2 to get air to the roots, then replant. I get a burst of growth every time I do this. I use the time I take it out to trim off the dead stuff.
I've been thinking of planting it in a small clay pot to make it easier to perform the airing out. I would just have to remove pot and all and return it to the tank after a couple of days. If I can find a piece of driftwood for this I think it would look better but I can figure it out in another month or so when it's due for the next airing.

Edit: That plant in question looks more like sagittaria to me... what is it Blu?

que i put what think looks nice in my tank normally i know whether it is a house plant or not sometimes i get it wrong lol but im no good with their names either lol
 
Sweet set-up Blue! keep us updated as I'm interested in the plant growth with the sand substrate. I've never tried with sand b4...
 
thanks ravi in the sand i have buried fertilizer sticks they will last a year due to slow release of nutrients . we will find out how well they work in the coming months
 
i will post more when i think things have changed, i did have a silly forktail rainbow she got in behind the diffuser rack ,i came home from work and found her i dont know how long she'd been there
 
im going to post a couple more pics this week even in this short time my plants have grown
