Paid the price for thinking how smoothly the water change and filter cleaning had gone on my Oceanic 58. Got the water level up, opened the valve on the Fluval 305 tube system and heard a gurgling, no worries just filling, WRONG.
Leaking around the top of the filter housing. Jumped around, shut off water to python, jumped around some more, got towels and mopped water. Took filter outside and O-ring looked okay. Filled with water, outside this time, tipped to side and sure enough leaking. Ring is not cut but must be flattened or something. No problem I got two AC70, got at the special price from Big Al's.
Cut the plastic strip to accommodate the filters and discovered they could not go over the lip of the aquarium molding. Industrial strength Oceanic construction bit me there. Hooked up a couple of little Marinelands and just ordered 3 O-rings for the 305. Has only been running since May 09 and always lubed before reinstalling but lesson learned, HAVE EXTRA O-RINGS ON HAND.

Yikes! Hmm, makes me wanna put in another order, with o-rings this time...
