Be careful with those sterilite containers, I have 3 of them on my front porch that no longer hold water. They all seem to eventually develop a slow leak at the bottom in the corners.
that frame should help with the swelling/creep that leads to cracking at the stress points.
will this be out in the sun all day? if so, you might look into a way to keep UV off of the plastic, since UV definitely shortens the life of every plastic resin. paint it, wrap it in tin foil, whatever -- anything to keep direct sunlight off the plastic
Any idea what the timeframe was for these to develop leaks? I'm looking to use a couple of them to QT pond fish here in a week or two. I'll only need them full of water for around 2 months max. Anyone know if they last that long? Mine are not the pretty blue that you've got though. They're gray I believe. And a little more rounded than what it looks like you've got as well.
I am almost certain it will last two months. I am beginning to think that I will only be able to use this for a year before having to start again. The anacharis seems to be doing fine, but no real growth yet. Is it the temperature? Right now the day temps are from 58-70F.
Sorry for no posts in a while. Most of the posts will be over the weekend. I went over to my friends pond and brought back a 8 of the gambusia. To my suprise, I could not find any pregnant females! The fish I got are either large males or unpregant females. I remember going to his pond in mid-January and it was full of mosquito fish. This time, there was barely any. I'lll get some pics up soon.
