i have cichlid babys in a ten gallon i also have mosquitos in the larval stage in the tank(dont know how they got there). i was told coppersafe would kill them and it hasn't yet. i was going to vaccum the tank but i cant see the babies. any advise as what i should do to control the mosquitos. thank you.

In still water the mosquito larvae will congregate just below the surface of the water. You can remove them by running a brine shrimp net through the upper layer of the water. Allow things to settle between passes.
Mosquito larvae do make excellent fry food, though. Your fish may take care of the "problem" themselves depending on how old they are. I actually collect mosquito larvae to feed to my developing fry.

since you mentioned it, when i was cleaning my 10g yesterday i found a misquito larvae as well. i was really surprise that my dwarf goramies didn't eat it, and also that it was laid there at all since there's current in the tank. I'd feed them to your bigger fish if you have them or just scoop them out and dump them outside.
Get a Mosquito Fish, they can eat up to a hundred larvae a day. If you want I can sell you some, email me at SuperStampede1@aol.com
the filter should move enough water to prevent larvae, the fish will eat them though, its a really good live food for them. the mosquito fish is also a good idea. most pet stores give them out free during summer or call your local vector control for some free ones, i had some for my pond after a few months i had an endless supply of live food.
