MOSS BALL

.
I had a marimo ball in my tank but I took it out and put it in a jar in the kitchen window sill. Now it pearls all the time in the jar. Quite nice looking in there.

do you get much sunlight on the window sill? i tried that and my marimo ball died =( I suspect the direct sunlight heated the water too much

Nope. it is bright but the sun never makes direct contact unless it's close to sunset. Lotsa light but it never gets very warm.

Yeah, I think I remember reading your thread about yours. That's a bummer.

it's about the same for me too actually. direct sunlight only during 4 to 6 but i guess the sun is too strong... i ended up getting three more marimo balls which was a good thing as I broke one accidentally into tiny bits!

I was wondering where you guys happened to purchase your marimo balls. I plan to buying a few. I read that marimo balls grow better in colder temperatures and anything above 77-78 is bad for the marimo ball. Supposedly it's good to place them in the fridge once in a while.

Thank you :)

I got mine from my LFS. I might actually go get a few more and hang them at different levels in my tank. Sometimes my shrimp hang out on them other times my fish use them as a place to nap. It's really cute and they seem to enjoy them a lot! Hmmm maybe I'll do that tomorrow lol
