WORM?!? Whaddaya mean worm? I dosed these suckers hard with potassium permanganate, there really shoulda been nothin', not that I thought there was to begin with, other than maybe a snail?!?

Kristina
hehe i think it was a worm, not sure there was 2 stuck to there trying to dig inside, ill look for some new snails in my tank :p i love snails no prob with that..

what is potassium permanganate anyways??

It is a solution that decomposes dead and dying biological material and is toxic to most inverts. Jungle Clear Water is pp.

I haven't seen any worms, and I pick through these suckers about every other day... I wonder what the heck it could of been? There is nothing in the tank with them but a few snails, it is even bare bottom ????

Kristina

yea they were worms..i took two close up pictures of them on the paper towel...is that bad? will it hurt my tank? or just more food for my betta and snails hehe

I don't know what they are. I don't know how in the world the would have got there. I don't mix equipment.

I will do some research, I am sure everything is fine, but in the meantime, no more moss balls will be sold.

Got mine today, nothing on them but marimo....

Was the bag open or torn? They could have gotten in somewhere along the way... How big are those things?

Looks like nematodes, they are harmless.

They are in supposedly in everyone's substrate in their tank and only more apparent when overfeeding and lack of siphoning.

Thanks for the ID, Darryl. I was really worried.

There is no substrate in the tank, that is what has me confused? It is a bare 5 gal with a really powerful filter, and I roll them around a lot.

Do those things have a larval or egg state in which it would be possible for them to be airborne? Do you store the bucket thing that you shot the pics in outside? And why are you awake? Nothing good happens after midnight.

LOL, I have NO idea, I will have to do more research. I do live two blocks from one lake and 4 from another...

The pan that I had them in was inside, but windows were open? Grasping at straws, here.

I am still awake because I am an insomniac, lol. I do not hardly sleep at all.
