i was given 4 moss balls last night all are about 2" in diameter.does any one now how much light they need, if co2 is needed, and how they reproduced trying to look it up they seem to get mixed results about them .this is my first time haveing them and dont know anything about them anyone got any input on these

I've seen reports all over the range, from "doesn't need sunlight" to "high to very high light". I'd figure on moderate light, if only as a compromise.

I have one in a 2.4 WPG tank, but I also had on in a ~1 WPG tank, and they were both fine. The lower light one didn't get any ferts or co2 or anything.

as far as i see the "high lighters" are either going on old reports from when people were trying to figure them out or want it to pearl and float like an old hippie lamp. they should be fairly easy under most conditions. i wouldn't go less than 1 wpg really though.

They will grow in pretty much any aquarium conditions. The more you mess with light/ferts/co2, the faster they grow. They grew fine when I only had a single 20w t8 6700k bulb over my 50 gal. They grow fine in my 5gal marineland hex qt. They grow better in my 50 gal with 40w t8 6700k, 24w t5ho 6700k, 24w t5ho 18000k. They seem to be growing even better this last week (since I started dosing flourish and excel).

They will get 'bumps' which will break off and be baby plants. Every month or so, it's a good idea to squeeze it out into a bucket of fishwater on it's way out after a water change. This will help keep them uniformely green, and round.
