Moss in plastic canvas

Can Fissidens, Taiwan and Flame Moss be grown in plastic canvas?
The shape and the way it grows make me unsure if it will work well.

I want to sandwich it in the plastic canvas and hang it all the wall of the tank to grow out.

It should grow fine. The canvas is just a means to hold it there like tying it to a rock or driftwood.

For the Fissidens, the holes in the canvas aren't that big so I'm kinda worried if they will be able to grow threw the little holes.

Flame Moss grows upward, would it grow weird if it was growing on a wall?

That's a good question, try the flame moss out on a little canvas and see the results.

Fissidens should be fine especially if the moss could get through the holes.

I'd start flame moss on a flat surface so it starts growing through the holes before you turn it vertical. Generally moss walls are made with mosses with a downward growth habit though. Keep us posted as to how it works out. Should be an interesting look.

My main concern is that I don't want to kill my moss or harm the condition of it. I have 4 types of moss in my tank and all need to be moved, it would really suck if something happen to it..

You could do the same thing as a moss wall, except have it horizontal on your tank's floor. This way, the flame moss would grow vertically into a moss mat and would look great for a foreground.

This is what I am doing with plastic pet screening. I only have the flame moss about one week though. I have a section of screen on the floor, and one on the back wall. This is sort of an experimental phase to see how each application works.

I have been told for flame moss, the rhizomes need to be separated and not bunched up on a rock. If you attach it to a rock bunched, they will rot and die. I have some on a rock fairly spaced out, and I am already seeing brown spots.

In reference to the fissidens, someone on my other forum is attempting a wall with the screen as well. Growth is extreemly slow, but the last pictures show some of it poking out. I imagine if the mesh is larger than the typical screen material, you should be fine.

I should also note, this person used a plastic mesh looking like one of those laundry bags on a piece of driftwood for the fissidens. This peice worked very well.
