I'm going to grow a java Moss Wall for my 20 gallon. i was wondering what type of plastic can i use? Im thinking two big sheets approx 23 inches. Put 4 suction cups on each side and hang it as my "background"
 
I didn't like the way the moss was looking on my driftwood so I started to play with this idea earlier today...I layed the moss on a piece of green plastic canvas(from the craft store)and pulled it through the back with a crochet hook...It covered nice, but still needs to grow in....I then hung it from the spaybar with fish line so I can move it if needed...looks good,but I wish I had covered more of the wall
 
Im going to put a front and back to mine, then put the suction through both front and back "sealing it". Im just wondering what type of plastic i can use and where i can get it etc.
 
I had thought about doing this and I think at a Craft store they would have those things I used to see Gramma doing needlepoint or even a screen with some netting sewed onto it, you can apply the suction cups onto these fairly easily!!
 
Plastic canvas....if you can't get a sheet big enough you can put two together...sews up nice with fish line...

I don't have a pic of the moss, but this is a cover I made for an overflow with it...

maybe FishyMatty will post pix of his in here. His wife did some wonderful seamwork for the mesh, and it's really starting to fill in nicely.
 
You can find the mesh at any good craft store, near the needle work section.

Ask for plastic needlework canvas.
 
Man...this is a fabulous idea and I wish I could do it in my tank! Two issues for me...a couple of dozen 3"+ Rainbows who "mow" my moss all the time...and my tank is seen from both sides (middle of room) and this kinda restricts aquascaping options (the wife likes to see the TV from the kitchen through the tank. :(

Can't wait for the pics, though.
