It's an arowana but a man was offered $80,000:eek3: for a platinum arowana...competely white (not albino) not a single speck of color! The fish is now off the market

I thought we are talking about 'most expensive cichlid', not the fish in general.

Discus is the most expensive here. Second would be the peacock bass and then the red sevs. As for the flowerhorns, the demand is lower so there isn't many available nowadays in my area.

I know. Discus would probably top that list. I just thought I'd share that info cause it's crazy!

A high quality FH...still have yet to see a discus go for $10,000-20,000.

Flowerhorns are priced like that because of the asian belief that they bring good luck.

Most expensive I could find was for a Bluefin Tuna... not soemthing anyone would want in an aquarium Id imagine.. but the fish was 444 pounds and sold for $391 a pound for a grand total of $173,600

There is also that platinum arrowana that jpappy mention that had a price tag on it of 200,000 pounds, which is a stunning looking fish... but it never actually sold.

just saw a fully grown FH for about $1200 and a breeding pair of discus for $650 at an LFS near me.
