Most social fish?

An Oscar.

I have only had a few different types of fish so far. Platies and dwarf gourami both eat out of my hand-not pearl gourami (yet anyway). Both type of fish will watch me constantly, and gaze longingly into my eyes for.........food of course! Platies are also in tune to social dynamics in the tank. My 2 adult female red wag-tails remind me of nosy old ladies sitting on porch gossiping about the other fish--they even try to steal males of a different fish!

For a small /mediam sized tropical tank I would vote for Bolivian Rams. Mine spend much of their time in the front of the tank and they don't dart away when I approach. I love to watch their social interactions. My Bolivians will hang out together in perfect harmony for a while and then suddenly (especially at feeding time) will chase each other around the tank or do a head butting or lip locking dominance ritual.
For a small tank I like Endler's livebearers.

Thank you so much for your replies everyone! =D

African dwarf frogs. They'll eat bloodworms right out of your hand. They'll go into the funniest positions. It looks like they're dead but they're not. Great personality.

Nobody has mentioned this one yet, but my 3 Bala sharks seem to LOVE the attention. I can sit infront of the tank for hours and they never leave the front of it. I've been able to hold shrimp pellets in the water and the Balas will come up and take them, and keep coming back for more (providing the tiger barbs don't come and steal them). I love them they're my favorite fish in the tank! Also, when i have my hand in the tank if i'm cleaning the gravel they will come up to my hand and kind of "kiss" it as i call it haha. I think they're awesome, but i'd have to agree with everyone else and say platys are very sociable too.

goldfish, fancies are my fav. though, especially when they are big. one in my pond will let me rub her head, as long as I have some fruit/koi treats at hand :grinyes:
