IN referecne to the dwarf gouramis - I can hear mine "snap" food off of the surface - is this the spitting you are referring to? Either way it is pretty cool!

No, some of them shoot water out of their mouths to knock down bugs/food that's above the water. Not all of them do it.

In tank- Angelfish and in my pond for sure would have to be koi and goldfish. The koi and goldfish will eat out of my hand. Even had one that come and sit in my hand.

My panda cory are pretty social. Whenever i gravel vac my tank, they would come and nibble on my hand.
