Most undemanding plant that will form a carpet??

I think tenellus looks great and will do well, especially with CO2. However...if time is not a problem and the tank is very balaced, crypt parva is amazing. I had a small patch in my 10 gallon tank that lloked great after many months. The problem is that since it is slow growing, if things in the tank are unbalanced, it will grow algae. The only recourse is to use a little hydrogen peroixde to combat it. If you have the time and patience try the parva. IME, dwarf sag grows way too high to form a nice low carpet.
 
Crypt Parva---HA!! It grows soooo slow that to form a "lawn-like" it may take years!!!

I have some crypt parva. I bought some last year (2 plants). I think I now have 5.
 
If you use moss as the carpet, you might want to use some mesh matting to hold it down. Otherwise, the stuff will get everywhere. If you use the mat, it will grow entwined with it.

I have a glosso carpet in my 10 gal. and it grows quickly, but seems to remain very managable with medium light and no CO2. It does uproot fairly easily if doing anything other than a very gentle sweep with the gravel vac.

Just a curiosity, someone mentioned that plants grow taller in high light and stay short in low. My experience with sag. is exactly the opposite. In low light they grow as far towards the light as possible for nutrition. High light penetrates deepr, thus allowing the plant to stay shorter and absorb the same nutrients. Is this incorrect?

I find the same. I know for a fact it's true of Dwarf sag and Glosso.
