My husband and I are trying to do research way in advance for our possible move to either Phoenix, AZ or Buffalo, NY (Phoenix for school or NY to live permanently). We have a major dilema. We have ALOT of fish. We have 3 tanks. A 125gal, 30gal, and a 10 gal.

In our 125 we have a variety of fish. We have 5 Koi (one gorgeous butterfly koi), 4 plecos, 3 dojo loaches, 2 cory cats, 10-12 goldfish (only 4 of which we are keeping which we are keeping), and 2 black skirt tetras.
(this was our starter tank it was given to us by my husbands dad when we moved out here to CA)

In our 30 gal we have 2 oscars (medium in size) 2 plecos and 1 african chiclid
(we love our oscars, they are gorgeous!) (we didn't know much about our african chiclid when we got him. We thought he was an oscar so we named him oscar and then we got our actual oscars, just a funny story to share)

In our 10 gal tank we have 2 psychotic kissing gouramis which we don't intend on moving we had them in our 30 gal but they kept pecking at our oscars and stressing them out. Kinda funny to watch these big old fish being bullied by this little gourami.

So anyway...... how do we get all these fish to whichever destination we end up choosing? We really don't want to get rid of these fish. The koi have been with us for almost 2 years now and we got them when they were just inches long and have grown to be about 9-10inches. We have really enjoyed watching them grow. I couldn't imagine not having our fish. Is there anything we can do to get our little "babies" to our new home safely?

Thanks in advance!

Rubbermaid Bins? Thats a tough one, because you wouldnt want to slosh the fish around too much on the drive, and once you got there the tank would have to be set up again. I would suggest the huge Rubbermaid bins with tight lids.

would you be driving?
Fish dealers will be the best source of info i bet.
if you end up in Buffalo, look me up.

If you are going from CA to AZ then go rubermaid containers, as it will not be a week long drive. If you are going from CA to NY talk to the LFS and see what it would take to ship your fish. Most all fish are delivered to the LFS by USP or FED-X, it would probably be the less stressful way of getting them there...

I really never thought of having them shipped. We flew our cats out here and we drove, but fish are another story. If we go to Phoenix, then yes we will do the rubbermaid container with the air stone route, but NY is totally different that is a 4 day trip. Thanks for the help, we will consider the options you have all given us. Thanks again!
