Heyya folks. In my fierce battle with byropsis I think I'll be forced to move my mushrooms lest they get over-run. The stuff doesn't like areas without the full effects of the 20" quad light (the tank is 36"). I have a bullseye mushroom just outside of the direct light range that is holding its own just fine. My question then, can I move the shrooms on a rock opposite of the bullseye, hopefully still able to get decent light with getting mobbed, and if so, how do I remove them? Thank you very much. Also, do mythrax crabs like byropsis?

I think that alkalinity has been implicated in bryopsis problems, but you'll want to check that with others!

There are several ways to move mushrooms. The most obvious, move the rock they are on. Safest, easiest in most cases. You can cut the base (very sharp knife or scissors--you want to end up with a smooth stump, no ragged edges). The disc can then be superglued onto a new rock. The nifty part about this method is that the left behind stump will probably grow a new disc and then you have 2. However, it doesn't always work--you could end up losing both the cap portion and the stump.

Thanks Orion. I appreciate the help. The rock in question with the shrooms is also the most heavily hit by the damn stuff, so I don't think that'll work. I don't actually know if any of the discoma are left, so maybe my inquiry came too late. Thanks again for the help though. I'll see if there's any left tonight.
