Moving Plants

I have what i think are melon swords as my backdrop. I don't think they'll get big enough to be a backdrop type plant. I want to move them to the middle of my tank.

The problem is I put root tabs under them about 3 days ago.

Question is:

Can I move them and the root tabs to the new location since its been relativley recent or am I asking for an algae bloom by doing this?

Also I thought Bocapa caroliniana were stem plants, but I don't see the normal roots coming from the stalks. Are they water column feeders or root feeders?
 
I got a small potted melon sword from Daveedka in a plant swap. Very nice plant and slow to get moving, but when it started to grow there was no stopping it. I had to eventually pull it because it was taking too much room in my 75g. The leaves were breaking the surface and taking up a wide radius.

My problem was probably that I didn't do much trimming on the plant. I think if leaves were pruned regularly then it would be easier to control.

I would be a bit wary about disturbing the root tabs. Maybe if you scooped it out between two cups you could prevents anything leaching into the water column. I've no real experience with tabs so I'm not sure how long it would take for them to get too soft to move.

Bacopa are a stem plant. I always keep a few myself and come to think of it I don't think mine put out side shoots either. As far as I know they are column feeders.
 
I'm not even sure if they are melons. I'll add some pics maybe you'll know.

it's my understanding that if you disturb a root tab it gets into your water column you're in for an algae bloom big time-

if you can't wait for the plants to eat them up i'd do a serious water change a few days in a row to help prevent the algae bloom
 
Anyone know if this is a melon sword?

Also how would you go about trimming this plant? Is there a trick to keeping them from getting to big? I just assumed if the leaves got to tall I could cut them off and the new shoots would grow out and just continue with this method.
 
AFAIK those leaves are the emersed form and will die off and be replaced by the submersed leaves.

I'm not too familar with swords but I think trimming the side leaves would help it taking up too wide a radius. I wasn't concerned with the height mine got to, just the width.
