I am moving in about 2 months and I am looking for advice. I am luckily only moving 2 km. up the road. We finally bought a house :bday: . Anyways as you can see in my sig. I have a fully stocked and planted tank. I figure I can bag all the fish up separately in small groups put them in coolers and move the tank and equipment. I figure the fish will be bagged for about an hour or so. I was told by a respected fish guy that I could move everything over to my new place then fill the tank back up and re-stock the fish into the tank. Simple as that. He says because i am using an EHEIM 2213 to filtrate I would not need to re-cycle because my media is already established and populated in the filter. This sounds like an easy yet tedious task. Does what I described make sense ? Does anyone have any advice or other suggestions to offer? Thanks !!

Try to make the fish's stay in the bags as short as possible. That's my only set of advice but you probably already know that. Good luck, I hope the trip will be safe, and the fish will be fine.

That sounds like it will work real fine. Just make sure you keep the filter, and gravel wet, otherwise the bacteria will die and you will have to re-cycle your tank.

Yea ,for sure......... the filter is a canister filter so everything stays wet inside as the hoses come apart at the shutoffs . I just hope I can do it in good time with no hang ups as suggested earlier.

Thanks for the help mgamer... Those are good posts. i shoulda searched them myself......LOL

I like the idea of using cheap styroam coolers or plastic tubs. I could use the coolers after for the Beer when we move and those tubs always do come in handy.;)
