If the tank is planted....then that matter is used up. I have a 29gal with 5 full size angels, 10+ Harlequin Rasbora breeding, 8+ Rasbora Brilliants breeding, 2 dwarf gourami, 4 otos, a male betta, over a dozen limia, ghost shrimp, and a team of MTS. The tank has a standard back filter, live plants, slate rock, landscaping pea gravel, and drift wood. The Light is 3wpg 6500K and 50/50 light. That is tank over load, and yet in the 5 years running...I have only vacuumed 3 times. I due use an ammonia fixing substrate in the filter but an occasional rinse of the filter and topping the tank off..and it's good.
But I think this thread is being taken the wrong direction. A new thread is in the Planted tank enthusiasts section if we would like to continue this.
