I guy I worked with just fed them straight to his puffers, it helps keep their beaks down. Is there a specific reason not to feed them straight to the puffers?
I think it's because their shells are too hard and might damage their teeth. But the idea about removing them is worth trying. Thanks.
Yes, MTS shells are very hard. Some puffers could possibly break their beaks on them. They also have an [SIZE=-1]operculum (trap door). This can make it difficult for some puffers to suck out the juicy goodness inside.[/SIZE]
I have yanked a few out of their shells to feed my dwarf puffers. They seemed to enjoy my extra effort.
