I purchased a plant that had this Malaysian Trumpet snail as a hitchhiker. I've put this MTS in my 6 gallon Assassin baby snail tank since I heard Assassins (Anentome helena) are fond of MTS. What are the odds that this snail will turn into many (which is what I would like). I've heard they are livebearers so I'm assuming I need a male and a female? If it is a female would it have reproduced already? I've had this snail for about 2 weeks. IMG_0836.JPG

Umm I believe they can be hit, and have babies for multiple times with out an adult, but dont hold me too that. if not, someone will send yousome more.

All you MTS sufferers out there - any knowledge you picked up on these snails?

I thought that mts can reproduce asexually, as in you only need one. But I also heard that they reproduce more slowly (not all that slowly really) than some other snails. Like pond snails reproduce faster. It may take a couple months, but I think that it will reproduce on its own.

They can reproduce asexually. No clue how long it takes for them to give birth or gestate, how fast they reproduce also has too do with how much food is available.

I got exactly 10 MTS when I found them crawling on the front glass at a tank in the LFS. The lady charged me a penny for each of them. I put them in my tank in about July, and I only saw a couple of them a week. Lately, I have been seeing MTS that are smaller than my originals and I see those almost every time I look in the tank. So it can take some time for that 1 MTS to turn into dozens.

Just wait.

I'm hoping it reproduces before the Anentome helenas (Assassin snails) are large enough to eat it. Right now they crawl right by since the MTS pictured is about a half inch long.
