Multie Tank

I noticed them excavating under shells nowhere near their shells today. Pretty much all five are doing this. Any ideas about what this behavior means?

I wouldn't worry about this its part of their behavior and is natural for them to dig i would be glad that as a hobbyist you did the right thing by giving them sand most hobbyist don't and the poor little guys can not dig..

No worries aye..

More the better just be careful because uneaten food and debris and some poop will end up in the empty shells and will crash a small tank..

I recommend a once a month taking shell and turning upside down while still submerged to release poop and debris to avoid ammonia crash its what i do as well because i so believe in extra shells aye..

Hey, Pitt...what if there are eggs inside a shell? Is there any way to know that?

How big are multies when they start breeding?

I wouldn't let it worry you too much my friend the eggs should be attached to the shell inside as long as you do not remove the shell from the water and honestly if you suspect that the shell is filthy and has eggs the mother should be cleaning the site mommas are good cleaners for their new coming babies..

Amd hopefully followed by a $$$$$$$$$$$$ mushroom cloud.

I actually have a store lined up that will give me about $1 a piece. I was told this when I had firemouths, so it might be more for something less common.
