I have a 30 gallon tank with a breeding pair of kribs in it with a couple of paradise fish. They have had about 4 batches of kids, but so far I have only one survivor. It's only about half an inch long and I can't tell is it is male or female yet. My question was if I should keep it and risk the risks of having three kribs in the tank? If I keep it, what would it do? And since the other two are breeding, wouldn't they beat the crap out of it? I have easy access to a buying LFS in town, so it wouldn't be a big deal if I had to get ride of it. Thanks for your help in advance!

well i had good dozen kribs in my tank about a few weeks ago
they are all offspring of the pair i bought like 7 months ago, well they finally matured, and lost goot 7 kribs in 3 weeks, if ur tank is big enough, 3 kribs will be fine

Ok, thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention that the parents are already starting to show agression to the little guy, but that is only when he is on their side of the tank I think. And also, I thought that I read somewhere that if u had 2 females and one male, the 2 females would kill each other fighting over the male. And if this guy turns out to be a mal, should I buy another female and have 2 breeding pairs? This is a thirty gallon tank, but is has at least 7 caves in it.

I wouldn't keep more than one pair in your tank, or you will have major fighting with the weaker pair being killed. I think it would be best for the extra krib to be removed or he is gong to be harassed.

I have a pair of kribs that just spawned in my 38g. Only other dwarf cichlid is an A. staecki which is forced to stay mid-level instead of the normal bottom.

I have two pairs in my 75, and they color up and show for each other, but no real aggression. But it is a heavily planted 75 with lots of structure defining their territories. I would not try to keep more than one pair of kribs in a tank that small. I wouldn't worry too much about the fry either though. There are 4 fry of the two pairs in my 75 that I missed taking the new batches out. They seem to get chased, but if they stay to the 'neutral' zone as Icall it. They are fine. So, he should be fine unti lhe/she gets a little bigger. But, then again I have never had a Krib kill anything in any of my tanks.

Thanks for your replies. I'm going to take him out once you can see that he is a krib, which I assume is about another month. The pet shop said 20 bucks per fish though, so my fish may be in for a couple of new plants when I get back form selling him.
