mushroom and polyp propigation

I've been running a 65 gallon reef tank with inhabitants for about 2 years now.
It's a good looking, healthy tank for the most part, but I can't get anything to grow........ they're just there!!!
If anyone can give me some help on this project, I'd appreciate it.
