I have a rock of 3 Red Mushroom Polyps I purchased about 2 months ago (doing wonderful since), I made the mistake of letting my good friend take care of the aquarium for 2 weeks while I was gone...*(I thought she knew what she was doing...)* At any rate...about 4-5 inches of water evaporated (30gal tank), about eight gallons. When I got home and saw this I immediatley started getting water ready ( I used tap with conditioner...I have tested my tap water and the nitrate, nitrite, and phos. levels are either VERY low or none at all)...I USUALLY use RO however in this emergency I panicked! I think I may have killed my Shrooms though...they are all shrinked up and the largest one (about 3-4 in dia.) is shriveled up and hanging down...I can see his foot/base. I would like to know if I killed them/him or just shocked the heck out of him/them...I will try to get some pics today...still unpacking from trip. Thanks for any help!!!

I would guess they are just shocked if it didnt kill your stars it probably wouldn't phase the mushrooms. Even if it did kill parts of them just trim off the dead parts and the rest of it will recover. I'd say you just caused a bit of osmotic shock from the sudden change in s.g. Take a look at your stars, and snails if they are ok I wouldn't worry much about the shrooms.
hope I'm right

just shocked!!!

Luckily, I just shocked the shrooms! I am concerned that I can still see the foot or base of one of the larger ones....I will give them a little more time before I completely freak out..lol. They seem to be coming back slowly.

Thank you very much for all of the help!!!
