Music from my generation

We liked most of your choices 2tank...Bob's not as much. But to be fair, I've heard most of them all before.

These are African songs from my childhood Miriam Makeba - Click Song (Qongqothwane) (Live) - YouTube check out the early mohawk hair!
but this isn't the version I knew, I couldn't find it

We tried very hard to do the "click" in various ways tongue, throat etc.

We were way ahead of Paul Simon & Lady Smith Black Mambazo at our house, lol

Wow 2tank, we've always loved CCR, Fogerty is from ~20 miles north of us now. Not the NOLA bayou boy he sometimes pretends. I think you hit all my favs, TY, I had to dance!!

But the Zulu guy explaining the clicks, etc. was mind blowing!! Thank you so much, I'm going to have to send it to my sister...& my bro if he actually did email...But even with the explanation, how does she do that while singing? The videos helped to see but dang! I think my tongue doesn't quite have the "thing" of the click. It seems to be back further...but not quite a throat click either. My "version" is too front of the mouth, watching her, there's got to be a different way...

I think the "table mountain" song I remember was a white?, maybe S. African 4-some. It's probably a "classic" song...but no "clicks". I think we had an album. I'll ask my sister if she knows...that was also a childhood fav. Good memories!

With all the publicity about the Beatles movie, I thought this would be appropriate. I heard my first Beatles tune in1964. I was in 10th grade in a private boarding school for boys. We had a dance with a girls school where we bussed in our jackets and ties to their school and the music for the dance was recorded. the girls were all agog about the Beatles and as for the boys. we were all mystified. I suggest playing it 1080 HD.

And fast forward a bunch and you can get this

And to play us off into the night......

I really do miss the 60s into the early 70s. The music was incredible and cheap.

And now for something completely different. I almost lost it at about 3 minutes in. (It is better to watch it bigger on Youtube)

OMG! I think I saw this juggler on Sullivan or Merv back in the day. I almost wet my pants! Too funny!

It's funny you'd post Beatles music next. We saw them on Ed Sullivan, a regular Sat night event (...but I'm very much younger than you, 2tank) I talked to my younger sister & they're doing the Beatles streaming thing so she was all into our childhood music, click song & all. I remember my mother bought Sgt. Pepper without the excuse of a gift occasion like Xmas, birthday or even Easter. She was a big fan! She loved Rod Stewart too & I think she bought the album with Maggie May with no excuses either. Janis Joplin was also a fav of hers, the Mercedes Benz album, not her early Big Bro. stuff.

I have a good friend for many years who has two sisters whom I also know. One of them became very friendly with Roger Daltry years back. My friends daughter has also been working on a singing career and my buddy has dealt with a number of well known music folks. Of all the people he has dealt in this respect the one i would have loved to meet was Steve Cropper who co wrote Dock of the Bay. Most of know him from the 2 Blues Brothers movies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Cropper

I should also mention that my friend was one of my partners in the sound company we had in the 1970s. We have remained friends for the past almost 50 years despite moving in completely different directions. I am a retired fish keeper and he is a prominent lawyer in DE. who is very well connected.

When it comes to the Who one of my fav tunes was from Tommy-

And a salute the Fab 4

Not my generation- the band is later and the music is before......

How about a whole set?
