Well I have had a 10g laying around for some time now, so I decided to set it up as a reef. I got a Sunpod 20" 150w 14K Metal Halide lights that were too small for my 20g, and they fitted perfectly on my 10g, so I decided to put them up on there even though it is overkill. I set it up Sunday, and added live rock from my other tank and some agronite sand I bought Sunday. Since I put live rock in there from an established tank, that'll help the cycle. Left my LED cables at my dad's so I haven't tested them out yet. Got to get two timers for the daylight LED's and the MH's.
Here's some pics. Plan on getting SPS maybe a zoanthid or two, shrimp, feather duster, stuff like that. Maybe this summer I'll add a firefish, but fish aren't my reason for seting this tank up.

Here's pics:

Just out of curiousity, does this thread belong here or the photo section sinec it's kinda a journal type thread?

If it is just photos the photo forum is where they want them. You can also use the blog feature here to keep a journal in one place if you'd like. You might want to trim down the number of photos that are very similiar as well.

Wow, nice start! True, the 150W is overkill, but it certainly gives you a TON of options!!! lol

Ok, I take it that it's under User CP?

Just wondering with that little bit of water if the MH heats up the water a bit high.

Yeah, I'd keep an eye on the temp for sure. If it starts overheating, I think you can cool it down by suspending the light, rather than using the mounting legs, to raise the light higher over the tank. Or, try a fan over the surface of the water.

Nice start..
