I was just sitting in the living room watching TV and heard "POP!"...followed by the sound of running water. That's never a good sign
I run to my 'fish room' (hallway closet) and find water pouring out of my macro algae tank. There was no livestock in the tank, thankfully. Anyway, I grabbed as many towels as I could from the bathroom and threw them on the floor - by now 1/4 of the water was gone. Then I grabbed a MaxiJet 1200 powerhead and a piece of hose, tossed it in the tank and pumped water into 3 different buckets. Then I grabbed my camera, of course. Darn good thing I had all this stuff sitting right there in my 'fish room'. I managed to save all the macroalgae by tossing it in my quarantine tank....until I can go buy a new 10g tank tomorrow.
The tank was an All-Glass Black Seal. I'll probably replace it with an acrylic tank. This 10g and another 10g (Q-tank) were the only glass tanks I had. Oddly enough the Q-tank is a much cheaper/thinner brand of tank than the All Glass but the All Glass is the one that blew out. Hmm.
Did I mention I live in a rented apartment? I hope none of the water made it down to my neighbors apartment. Oh well, that's what my renters insurance policy is for. I'm just glad I was home when it happened.
