My 120 tall journal

The outside dimensions on the supports are 17"x27". I ended up assembling the stand according to the directions, then measured the interior space and built the frame to fit as snugly as possible. I ended up using a hammer to tap them into place but that stand is completely solid. Even with the tank full of water, along with 100lbs of PFS and 150lbs of lava rock there is absolutely no bowing in the center...now if I could only find a matching canopy for it.

I have Vallisneria gigantea in my 55 which I believe is 21 inches tall. Within a few weeks it reached the top of the tank, now about 8 inches of it just floats on the top of the water. I am sure it would reach the top of your tank.

That looks really cool! I might have to try and snag some of that.

No, not moneywort. I used to have some and it looks a little different. The leaves are more pointed than the moneywort ones.

Did you tap them in when the tank was on and filled? Or before hand?

Thanks for all the help and ideas everyone!

Good to know:) I'll probably have to go get some 2x4's on my next day off.

Good news
Stand showed up a little late, thanks to the holidays! But it is here, and I will be assembling and reinforcing it on sunday most likely. Once that is done I will be moving everything from the 50 into the 120 :)

Bad news
I came home to find out that my light was absolutely demolished. I am very upset, but it gives me a good excuse to look into getting better lighting, or a new shop light I guess lol.

Does anyone have any good suggestions on cost friendly good lighting?

I am VERY excited to get this tank up and running!

As luck would have it, here is a link to some very simple DIY lights, and since you are already headed to the lumber yard for 2x4s just pick up some 1x12s too and make a hood. Simple and cheap, say 8 standard 110 light sockets and bulbs, wood and some lamp cord, might only cost a bit over $100. Heres the link http://americanaquariumproducts.com/PowerCompact.html

Of course if you go with the SHO you could cut the number in half and still have more light than you need, but the bulbs cost about $30.00 each. Still if you are only buying 4 of them you might only spend $200 for the whole setup. That's what my next hood will be. Good luck, looking forward to seeing what you do.

Thanks fishfriend:)

The only thing I can remember about the plant is that it does best in highlight, grows relatively slow, and yes the upper most leaves do tend to get a purpleish tint when they receive a lot of light. It has grown all the way to the top of my 50 gallon tank, but it has taken it several months to do so. I got it for free when I purchased a bunch of plants last year and wasn't sure if it would survive. t one point I thought it died, then I found it several months later tangled up in some hygro sunset floating at the top lol.

If anyone can ID it for me that would be great.

Hmm. I find that my plant does best in colder water, I have an unheated 10gal that it took over in about 10 days, moved it into my 30gal tropical, its only grown an inch or so since it was put in, temp dropped, growth sped up. Good Luck with yours.

annnnnnd Here it is :) Still need to move some stuff around, maybe add some more wood and possibly a few rocks. But here it is right now. I think I need to spread the plants around a bit. I wanted to try and keep the wood mostly on one side to give it look kind of like they were all washed up and bundled together there. I might need some more wood or just to move everything to one side.
