i love your tank looks very good, what kind of lighting and how many watts do you have. do you use any other fertz besides the fish poo. i have java moss in my 180 gallon on my driftwood and i have it for about a week not much progress i hope it ends up like yours.

i have 8, 30 watt, t12 flourescent bulbs = 240 watts in a 125 gallon tank. no ferts, no co2. give the moss some time. took mine about 3 weeks to show nice growth. thanks for the compliments. just devote time and it will be a great looking tank. take pics now so we can see your progress.

Well, now you're going to get more! I just read this entire thread and your tank is gorgeous and so well put together. How on earth do you carry out the water changes? Do you siphon the water directly out into the garden or something? I have to know, because when we set up our first 55 gal, even though we'll be understocking it, it'll be useful!

thanks so much. i use an extended vaccuum cylinder with a 50 foot python hose. i drain it straight into my bathtub and usually attached the hose to a magdrive pump to drain it faster. then i will fill the tub with new water and reverse the pump to fill the tank. my house is filtered for chlorine and other toxins so there is no need to treat it. i would use it for the garden but there is so much grass it would be a pain. also difficult because the tank is in the basement. a friend of mine used the protein from his protein skimmer to feed his plants. the plants thrived but im not sure if it was due to the protein 100%.
