My 125 Tank Build

Almost there

I have the stand in the room and the foam for under the sump, the sump put in and on Wed of next week the plumbing will be complete. Then "the fill" starts. Can't even begin to guess how long that will take.

The sump is incredibly large. I would like to have a smaller one...but think the size might be good to have. Haven't finished cleaning the cover for the sump (just plexiglass) that the light fits on, hope it helps with evaporation.

Doors have been installed for fit, now I removed them until the plumbing is complete.

Very cool...I want your sump. Actually I don't because I would have to tear my tank down to fit it in the stand.....
I really like the black on the stand, and as Grins said the woodgrain coming through is nice.

Thanks Robbie. My family thinks I am a bit nuts becuase I refinished it to the black, but I have waited this long...just wanted it to be right. I am a little anxious about the sump becuase it is so large and even though the water level isn't going to be high all the way across the sump...still a lot of water. David

Bad news. So my sump is too tall and only left me with 2" of opening which is too small to get into for maint and changing the Protein Skimmer cup. I went out and got a new version of the same sump...has a bit different layout - really pleased with it. WIll post pics when I get back intown.

And the water flows

So I had a man come to the house and plumb the tank for me. Took 5 hours to plumb and the water volume big compared to what I am used to. Only partly filled (always forget the volume of the sump) so tomorrow night I will add the rest of the water and get it going.

That looks great! I can already tell this is going to be a great setup. I never knew sumps could look so clean. I always see the after photos of setup sump and they can be very messy with all the algae and other helpful stuff thrown in.

Feather Duster - I thought the same thing. I looked at it once I got the water and salt done and thought I better enjoy this for the moment becuase it isn't going to look like that again. I am trying a new sand bed..the Red Sea Oolitic (sp) Aragonite. It is small spheres which my wrasses should appreciate when they bury at night. Supposed to be more "algae free" as it is harder for the algae to adhere to it. Thank you for the nice comments. I am shocked how patient I have been getting this set-up, normally I am one of those that wants it all done at once.

Big Update

So here is a shot of the tank today. I have the tank filled, cycling and just got the canopy and the lights up and runnding. The rock in the tank is curing before I put my LR from the old tank in there. I am so far really pleased with the results. Have to get the doors finished for the canopy and just install the doors on the stand.

I was trying to figure a way to not put the MH Ballasts into the stand since I have three of them so I used a "box endstand" from IKEA. I gives lots of ventalation and I just drilled a large opening in the back and mounted the ballastsin the box. I will monitor the heat and install a little fan if need be.
