My 185gal build in progress (lots of pics)

Great progress. I look forward to seeing the plants grow and fill in, myself.

I am loving that new ghost knife in there. Can't wait till everything grows in :] (too bad drift wood doesn't grow xD)

Thanks! with the back ground in there, there it will be a lot fuller. I may hjave to remove some of the contents that are in there to fit the background. I plan on trying to root plants in niches on the background to make it look more natural.

That BGK is actually growing. I didn't think he was getting much food at first, but every time I see him he's sporting a big fat belly, and now he comes out at feeding time and zooms around the bottom like a terrier sniffing for food. The loaches have fattened up as well (all but 1 or 2 of them anyway.) The only fish that don't seem to ever have a round belly are the acaras... they eat a modest meal and then stop. I hope they don't get left too far behind, although right now they are the tanks most agressive occupants, so maybe being outsized won't be too bad for them... unless I cave in to my desire to get an oscar... :p

If I were you, I wouldn't have your brother come over when you are gone. Fish can easily go up to a week without food. Feed up until you leave, do one last WC and go on your trip! There are usually more problems when you have someone watch your fish that doesn't know what they are doing. If your bro has fish then thats a different story.

On the last page in one of the pic did you put the heater into the gravel or was that something else?

I think you are seeing part of a buried beer glass that serves as a hiding spot

Yeah I guess. I'm more interested in having someone come in and make sure everything is still running smoothly. I've been powerfeeding since the first fish went in there, so I'm a bit concerned that 4-5 days without food will be a serious shock.
