My 185gal build in progress (lots of pics)

Why is there a fork buried in the sand? Seems like a fish could run into it and get injured.

Those plecs are starting to make that big tank look small ...

Nah, they are smarter than you think ;)

I stick a half zucchini in there for the plecs now and then and use a fork to hold it down, so whenever I do a gravel vac I pick up 3-4 forks.

I have been reading this thread for a couple of days now. (Not a lot of time during the day.) I was, am, are in simply amazement. I love your tank. I think if i were to try something like that i would start with a 10g.
Any signs of leaking, bowing? i guess you really couldn't see the back of the tank. What about you drain off? or do you just use your python. Your updated pics didn't show any plants, what happened to them? I really love your tank please keep up the good work and keep us updated. I have bookmarked Loaches r cool's thread and i am adding yours to update myself on all the happenings. Thanks for the inspiration. Mr. H

Thank you for the kind words. I've not had any external leaks, unless you count the ones from my sump. I had a bit of a problem with my acrylic seaming the first time around.

The tank is built pretty sturdily, and weighs around 300-350lbs dry - there is no bowing when filled.

Unfortunately my bronze featherback loves to destroy plants, so they have been torn up. I still have a sword plant that used to be large and beautiful, but is pretty stubby now. My big plecs also tend to uproot plants when they get excited, so I was spending a lot of time re-planting them down... not that much fun in a 3 foot deep tank!

Here's Buddy, looking nicely recovered from his swim bladder problem... almost ready to go back in the big tank:

6 months or so. He grew very fast up to about 6 inches, he's slowed down a bit lately... but I haven't been feeding him as much.
