My 2nd filter system finally arrived for my 225

Well I know this is counting your chickens before they cross the road but both filter systems are on the shelf waiting for my 225 tank to get out of dry dock undergoing major repairs and restorations (The USS Midway). Given that all the advice given on which filter system I should get was split between canister and sump, I decided to get the best of both worlds so I got both the FX5 and today I received my Toms PRO S4 wet/dry sump with auto filler tank on super sale at Big Al's. So between the two systems I hope to get great filtration results in my 225 tank which will eventually be the new home for my growing 14 AF Cichlids which are growing big fast in my 80 tank.

Because my new/used tank will be so large 225 gallons and becasue I like to have 2 filters as a backup, I have decided to buy a second filter for the FX5 but not because I need an extra filter as the FX5 should do the mechanical and bios filtering job well on its own. In fact I was ready to use another Magnum 350 which for your size aquarium (below 120g right?) should do nicely especially with the 2 bio wheels. The only reason I picked a wet/dry was becasue I wanted to give them a try for a chnage, an opportunity to learn something new about W/D filtering, and the Toms "all in one" compact and complete W/D system for one reasonable price appealed. Compared to other 150 gallon W/D systems which are "bare bones" costing $300+, the Toms complete system with auto fill tank was a real bargain at $178.

Oops OK you have a 250 built in tank, so yes an additional Magnum should fit the bill, but I would defiantly give it some time seeing how your already set up and running.
