My 55gallon tang pics

Keep the Tret mine is a solo in my predator tank and he is just laid back only a few spats every now and then. Those rocks are solid with that sand looks sweet my friend..

Cyps get pretty big so if you get some only do 6 of them and yes they are timid fish, shipping is hard on them and expect some to die from it, if you can obtain juvies it would be better..

What do you think about creating different heights in the rockwork? Like for example having a higher rock pile in one side of the tank, a lower pile in the other side and leaving a space in the center for the addition of some driftwood as suggested. IMHO that would be a more natural look.
There would be no pH problems with the driftwood and it would be better if you put it first in a bucket of water for a few days, so it can release the excess of tannins.

I got some blue flash cyps from a guy in NY and did not lose on during shipping... albeit, that could be just lucky, but dude has quality fish and was an excellent shipper. if you get them, get them from a quality source, and definitely ship overnight... don't even think about 2 day with them.

from my understanding, not all cyps are jumbo type. I think mine max out at 4 inches... I have to double check... I honestly do not remember for sure as I type this, but I think that is it.

ive got the C. leptosoma 'utinta' which are one of the smaller cyps, maxing around 3-4inch i believe, just avoid the "jumbo" species in your tank, and really they should be in as large of a group as you can as they find safety in numbers like most schooling fish do

well i went to the store today to get some cyps and they didn't have any today but i did get something that i have been wanting for a long time a julidochromis transcriptus here are some pics of him

hes on a drip line right now so in about 3 minutes i will get some pics of him when he is in the tank

he looks close like to my cylindricus

Nice.. Yeah i forgot to add that there are Cyps that stay smaller as well..

do you guys think i will see problems with the julie and the cylindricus

They probably won't like each other very much, but my own don't mess with each other very often. My Transcriptus is the more aggressive of the two but now that the Cylindricus has outgrown the Juli there isn't a problem. When they do square off the Cylindricus just opens it's mouth ( they have enormous mouths ), and the Juli eventually backs down and leaves. All fish are individuals though, and you may have a different experience. I'm keeping mine in a 75 with much more rockwork as well which gives them more territory. I also try to break up the piles as Efors suggested to create territory lines. Most of the rockdwellers won't chase much beyond the end of their rockpile. I'd recommend two piles on either side of the tank, in the center you can use driftwood or something as a centerpiece ( look at my 55 setup in my profile pics ). This will allow the Juli and Cyl to have individual rock structures to defend and minimize interaction. The Tret will hang in the open most of the time... no worries there.
I would add that I'd recommend no less than a 75 if you want to keep Cyps/ Paracyps in a community setting. I upgraded my tank size for this reason and I'm still not sure I have enough open swimming space to house at least 8. Others will disagree.
