Get him a girl!!!
that's what I did for my betta. He was extremely aggressive towards anything I tried to put in the tank but accepted the female immediately. They lived happily together for quite a while.
The girls have their own funny little personalities. They're fun to watch interact.
My boy would get all flustered and flair up at her and she would charge him when he did. It was hilarious. Kind of like a HEY DON"T YOU DO THAT TO ME! kind of thing. lol
Beautiful tank. I don't think it's a good idea to get a female as a constant tankmate. They could end up fighting and possibly killing eash other. Male bettas are better not house with any other bettas whether male or female. Pairs should only be kept together when in breeding condition then one of them removed. I know some people have had success but I would only even try it in a much larger tank not a 5 gallon.
In a 5 gallon I can't think of any other tankmates for him besides maybe some snails. 5 gallons isn't a lot of rom. I keep cherry shrimp and snails in mine and it once had a guppy and that was pretty stocked.
Very pretty fish and tank.Having a male and female in a 5 gallon is not a good idea. They will inevitably fight, and you will more than likely end up with one fish. And 2 fish in a 5 gallon is just too many fish.It will be overstocked. You may try some shrimp or small snails. But you may still end up with only the fish.Betta are territoral and aggressive. And in 5 gallons, they may not want any company at all.
