Thanks...I had to look up what an apisto is. None in this tank. That brichardi was bought cause the wife (who doesn't even.....read the sig and you get the idea) liked it. Only to find out later that it's a Tang. Note to self....research first and buy later not the other way around. But it's a nice addition to the tank. Its a very graceful fish and not the least bit of a problem. More of them would be an issue I would think. I did the off balance idea on purpose. I think it's a little differant than the usual stack in the middle (not that there is anything wrong with that) and I found that the Jacksoni and the peacocks had more open areas to swim. I started with one pile at each end and found that all the fish stayed away from the now open side anyhow. Probably cause of the spraybar outlet of the Xp3 on that side might have been a little to strong. So I put the one big pile on that side and put some cave things and smaller rock pile on the other side for digging (not undermining the structure ) and general randiness. The big yellow lab is a diggin' foll and the male Lemon Jake does his fair share.
As for concerns about the weight, I have under the sand a full peice of eggcrate to distribute the weight and the rocks are spread nearly front to back on that side. Maybe I'll take a few more pics. I built that stand it's on so I have no concerns about shifting and it's in the basement on concrete. You think the structure of the tank might be at risk?
As for inhabitants...I not sure of the fancy name of all of them but...
1 Synodontis multipunctatus (soon to add another)
3 lemon jake peacocks
2 melanochromis johanni
4 yellow labs 2 boys and 2 girls
1 Copidochromis jacksoni
1 Chopidochromis misc (the 4th pic)
4 psuedtrophus somethiing-or other ( all differant)
3 rusties
2 bala sharks (yeah I know...I can't say no to my boy who wanted sharks)
As for fighting over the rock pile...none. Sure they chase a bit but for the most part they are moving out and around it all the time. I left a big open space in the middle (like a great hall) and I set it the base rocks in rows so they can't really see who else is with them in the pile.
