well a few weeks ago i noticed a little fish under one of my rock formations and at first i thought and when i looked under it he dissapeared and then today i looked under their again and i seen him again and he did the same thing he dissapeared and i wanna know that my other cichlids know that he is their cause they r protecting him from me and i was wondering if he got scared and went into one of the other cichlids mouths to hide

what's in the tank? (what kind of cichlids)

the only 2 african cichlids that i know of is i have a peacok and a dickfeldi those r the only two that i have id's on and i bought 3 of them in an assorted african tank and the peacok and the dickfeldi and another african i got from my buddy

baby cichlids are very well adapted to hiding with rocks around, pretty much a survival tactic in the wild, since you don't know how old the fry are it's hard to say weather the fry still using the mouth. If you only see one chances are the female no longer let's them in the mouth. They become lunch after that and only the lucky survive. But you say that they are protecting him (weird). Is it just one or are there more? Mouthbrooders dont protect their young that long. Are there anymore Lake Tangs along the julidochromis line? Mixed lakes confuse me.

well i have only seen one of them and im thinkin my pictus cat ate the rest of him and yes they protecting him and its crazy cause my peacok stays in the same place that the babe fish is at

she probably spit not long ago, if you want him get him out, pictus will pluck him off when the lights hit
